Age suitability

Written for parents, for anyone deciding whether this is appropriate, and for app store reviewers. It describes what the app actually contains, including the part that is not entirely tame.

What the app is

One music puzzle a day. You are shown a real musician's albums and EPs with the titles hidden, and you name musicians until you work out whose discography it is. Everyone in the world gets the same puzzle on the same day.

What it does not have

The part that is not tame, stated plainly

The album and EP titles are real. They come from MusicBrainz, a public music database, and they are the titles musicians actually released.

Across the whole catalogue of 7,881 titles, 12 contain strong language. They are ordinary released records by well known artists, and they are reproduced exactly as published. A title is hidden until a player guesses a musician who appears on that release, at which point it is shown.

A further hundred or so titles use words like death, blood or drugs, in the way record titles have for sixty years.

We do not censor them. Changing a musician's work to make it more comfortable would make the game inaccurate, and accuracy is the whole point.

This is why the app is not rated for the youngest age band. It is not a technicality; it is a real thing a player can encounter.

Advertising

The app shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Ad content is chosen by Google, not by us, and is subject to Google's own advertising policies. We request non personalised ads, which means we do not ask for an advertising identifier to build a profile.

Purchases

There are none today. Every board, every hint and the whole archive are free. If a one time purchase to remove advertising is added later, this page will say so.

Privacy

Covered separately and in more detail on the privacy page. In short: no accounts, one anonymous random number to count visitors, and two ways to switch that off.
