This page names the song for every past puzzle, which is most of what solving one tells you. The replay links are here because some people want to play an old one anyway, and knowing the title is not the same as being handed the lines in order, but it is a real head start and it is fair to say so before you click.
Every one is in the public domain, and that is a constraint rather than a preference. Song lyrics are separately copyrighted, so a game built on modern words is a game somebody else can switch off. Heardle is the example everyone remembers. The trade is that the songs here are traditional nursery songs, hymns and folk songs rather than anything from the charts, and there are not many of them, so this list grows slowly.
Every song is checked line by line against a published transcription before it is ever scheduled, and the source is recorded. Words typed from memory are wrong more often than people expect, and a misquoted song is a puzzle with no correct answer.
